With millions of Apple iPad tablets making their way into homes and offices around the world, and competing products running flavors of Windows and Android becoming more prevalent, the number of tablets in our labs for data recovery is increasing. Not to mention anything about new iPads coming soon. While the number of tablets that fail and need recovery is still small, it does happen.

Tablet PCs, like the iPad, typically have solid state drives inside. These SSD drives can be considered like larger cousins of the flash drive. While CBL has been doing data recovery on SSDs for years now, tablets paradoxically bring an extra layer of complexity because of their “simplified” operating systems, and encrypted file systems.

iPad recovery can be tricky because of the way its flavor of iOS works to optimize storage space. Whenever data is deleted, further reading and writing on the device fills the unused space with temporary files quickly.

If you dropped and/or lost some data on your iPad or tablet send it over to one of our labs for in-depth analysis.
