Heads and Tales: Rescuing Data for Environmentalists Rescuing the Rainforest

Through the research efforts of the individuals who make the Durika Reserve home as well as the visitors to the community each year, a vast array of previously unknown or recorded findings has been collected for five years on the flora and fauna which also make Durika their home.

While a self-sustainable community that uses alternative energy sources, its members do leverage select modern technologies including a laptop computer upon which are stored the images of the flora and fauna captured by researchers and visitors. When Eugenio García López, biologist and ecologist with Fundación Durika, could not access the files on his laptop’s hard drive, he felt despair.

“The photographs contained on the damaged external hard drive represented hundreds of hours and research of biologists in the rainforest or photographs taken while hiking through dense, virgin jungle where no one probably has ever been before.”

Enjoy these 'tips'; if you need camera card recovery, call CBL. photo by bubbels Are you a digital photographer? Here are some ‘tips’ for working with and handling SD cards and flash memory cards.

Tip #1. Download, email, post-process and/or print your images promptly. If you wait weeks or months, the colors could fade, saturation could suffer and color balance could shift. Or worse, image files could become corrupt or you could misplace your card.

Nowadays picking up a new digital camera is easier than ever. The functionality is familiar regardless of what brand you go with. Charge the battery and away you go. Problems can creep up when you want to review the great photos you just finished taking. The right and left arrows move you from picture to picture but sometimes getting back to the main menu can be tricky. Is it the “setup” button, the “down” arrow, or maybe the button with the icon? Before you know it you’ve pressed one too many buttons and are staring at a blank screen.

Did you just accidentally delete ALL of your photos from your shiny new digital camera?
