Newly renovated, check out this little peek at of our data recovery lab and clean room facility located in Atlanta, Georgia.
Key factors come together here: a tightly knit team of engineers and staff working together with all the necessary tools and clean-room amenities to make running daily operations at the facility a breeze.
Staff work on projects in a secure area of the facility. Lab engineer Joel Barker let the camera follow him around a bit to snap photos of some aspects of his work at CBL.
CBL maintains an ever growing parts database. Engineers search it for parts here and around the globe when needed to complete a data recovery project.
For working on sensitive hard disk hardware, clean room work requires delicate particles like dust be removed by filters and bench apparatus at all times.
Software is a key tool in the recovery operations and CBL has developed proprietary utilities to help with day-to-day processes as well as special scenarios.
Lab workspaces and clean-room benches have an array of high-powered microscopes and magnifying lights in use.
Opening drives and working with platters can only be done in a professional clean-room environment.
CBL uses a process called mirroring to make a complete image of a hard drive before attempting to recover any data. That way, all work is done on a copy of the drive rather than the original.
Staff training combines with years of experience to enable lab technicians to deal with a huge array of problems and data loss situations.
That parts inventory? It really is large. This is just a fraction of the worldwide selection available. Estimates are at 30,000 storage devices and counting.
