With more choices than ever on the market for student computers, Apartment Therapy’s Unplggd did a survey on what choices buyers were making with regards to netbooks or laptops this year. Laptops are still the top choice for serious schoolwork it seems. Take the survey and see the results

Electronics are still very high on the shopping priority list alongside supplies and clothing. However, Market research firm NPD Group said recently that “44 percent of consumers will spend less this back-to-school season”.

In today’s economy, maybe a brand-new gadget isn’t on the list as much as in recent years. This year’s back to school spending might be more budget-minded.

What everyone looks for is back to school savings though — so to protect an investment in a laptop or computer, you should keep costs down by protecting the data on it. It’s the homework and projects and email that’s important right? Protecting the data from any unexpected school ‘incidents’ is a good idea.

Maybe you already went down the laptop-buying route last year — so rather than sinking money into an upgrade, protecting the student data on it might be a wise decision. CBL offers Data Recovery Protection Plans for a year or more to let you avoid inconveniences later. See Plans and Pricing here.
