This is what a burnt hard drive looks like. There is extensive damage to the exterior and interior of the drive. There is also significant contamination of the platters and debris inside the drive. It looks like the heads did not get back to the park position and most likely crashed during the incident. Burnt and crispy.

This is an example of the sort of extreme data loss situation we see from time to time. Recovering hard drives from fires, floods, and other disasters is what our customers look for all the time.
