Photographer Mark Richards took photos of vintage computers and digital devices for a collection he calls ‘Core Memory’.

DEC hard drive assembly photo from Mark Richards Core Memory book

Tribute to vintage computers of the past ‘Core Memory’ features gems like this old DEC hard drive

Take a trip through history as Richards reveals the technology trailblazers that go beyond just Jobs, Wozniak and Gates. Computers with odd designs, some as large as rooms, with memory and hard disks (and sometimes not) that sometimes barely could power a calculator. We especially like the DEC hard drive assembly as it reminds of some of the later storage devices we have recovered data from over our history. Also check out the original Apple Macintosh computer, which coincidentally at time of this post, is turning 35 years old today (Happy Birthday!)
